THE BEST
Beyonce
The Queen of Hip-Hop had everyone talking in this sheer and sequinned
number. Jay-Z even took a step back on the red carpet to admire his
wife’s exquisite physique in this Givenchy dress. The high ponytail with
the beautiful dress had Mrs Carter looking like every bit of the
superstar that she is.
Sienna Miller
Anyone who thinks that women cannot work suits on the red carpet
needs to take a leaf out of Sienna Miller’s book. The red sequinned
Thakoon two-piece, with black tie round tasselled belt, was perfectly in
keeping with this years’ theme whilst also effortlessly elegant and
chic. The black tasselled Jacob & Co earrings, red Rauwolf bag and
black Christian Louboutin shoes finished the look off perfectly.
Kendall Jenner
The eldest Jenner sister looked absolutely divine in this
green-sequinned Calvin Klein dress. The simplistic but sexy number
highlighted the models fantastic figure. The dress, slick hair and
subtle make-up combined made for a stunning overall look.
THE WORST
Rihanna
Anna Wintour, Editor of Vogue, appeared on Seth Myers Late Night show
this week saying that she loved the dress that Rihanna wore to this
years’ Met Gala. I am sorry Anna Wintour, despite you being fashion
royalty, I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. The
length, the colour and the fur trimming of this Guo Pei piece are all a
bit much. Some social media websites have even gone as far as to compare
this dress to an omelette or a pizza.
Solange Knowles
I hardly recognised Solange Knowles behind this lotus flower shaped
dress by Giles. Whilst I usually love Solange’s eccentric style this
dress crossed the line from eccentricity to absurdity by a long
distance.
Kris Jenner
Surprise, Surprise! It is another one of the Jenner/ Kardashian clan
sporting a Balmain number, and not a good one at that. The shoulder pads
of this red floor length gown make the recently single Kris look
incredibly top heavy. The overall look is worsened by the apparent
overuse of hairspray which results in Kris baring an uncanny resemblance
to Elvis Presley.
